A Fine and Elegant George III Copper Brandy Warmer

Taking its shape from the 18th century silver brandy warmers, this pan would never have had a lid – instead, a slightly out-curving top lip, with no heavily rolled edge. The original silvering remains to the inside, whilst the handle is long and elegantly turned.

Probably made for the use of a wealthy rural family, who could afford to drink brandy but couldn’t quite afford a solid silver pan.

English, circa 1800.

Provenance – from the collection of a highly regarded Essex metalware collector.

Ref 762
